INDIANAPOLIS — Two local residents are each $100,000 richer today thanks to the Hoosier Lottery.
Sylvia Fields-Green of Elkhart has been doing accounting and bookkeeping for more than 16 years. Now she can figure out how to spend the $100,000 she claimed Tuesday at the Hoosier Lottery Headquarters. She played the scratch-off game $100 Grand.
“I haven’t been able to sleep,” said Fields-Green. “I scratched my ticket off last night, grabbed my keys and drove the ticket to my parents.”
Upon telling her parents, Fields-Green said, “They were pretty laid back. They told me to spend my money wisely.”
The Elkhart County resident purchased her winning ticket from Huck’s Food & Fuel at 880 Mishawaka Road in Elkhart. She plans to pay bills and fix up her home.
David DeBolt of Wolcottville had his Giant Jumbo Bucks Scratch-off ticket in his pocket since Sunday. On Tuesday, he was finally able to claim his $100,000 prize at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters.
“It freaked me out!” DeBolt said when he realized he’d won. “I’m used to seeing $5 on a $5 ticket.”
DeBolt purchased his ticket from Lassus Bros. Oil #21 at 245 N. Main St. in Avilla.
The Noble County home builder plans to spend his winnings wisely.
“I have a daughter who is going to college next year,” DeBolt said. “Thank you Hoosier Lottery!”
