Butch Nine Memorial to tee off June 4

The 20th annual Butch Nine Memorial Golf Outing is planned for June 4 at McCormick Creek Golf Course.

The outing is a tribute to the memory of police Sgt. Butch Nine, who was killed in the line of duty in 1988 during an armed robbery.

Elder Haus



The Elder Haus Senior Center, 451 N. Main St., Nappanee, is now a REAL Services site. Meals will be brought in for senior citizens, who can eat with their peers. A $3.50 donation is requested for the meal, but not required. Seniors may pay what they can afford.

Elder Haus Executive Director Connie Fink said seniors should call 24 hours in advance to reserve their meal the next day.

Fish fry



First Brethren Church of Nappanee will be having an “all-you-can-eat” Jonah Fish Fry Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $4 for children. Adult carryouts will be available.

The meal includes fish, cole slaw, veggies, bread and pie. The church is located at 1600 N. Main St., Nappanee. For more information, call the church at 773-4252.

Poppy Days



Mayor Larry Thompson has declared Friday and Saturday American Legion Poppy Days in Nappanee. Volunteers will be offering the poppies for a donation in remembrance of those killed in the armed services.

NorthWood Soccer Club



NorthWood Soccer Club (formerly Early Bird Kiwanis Soccer) is accepting registrations for the summer league for children ages 5 to 14 (as of Aug. 1). Registration forms are due by Thursday. Late registrations will be accepted until June 2 but will be assessed a late fee.

Registration forms are available at the Nappanee Public LIbrary. For more information, call Christina Eshelman at 773-9050.

Seniors to take trip



Elder Haus staffers are planning a May 21 trip for seniors to Auburn to have lunch at the Busy Brush Shop. The lunch will consist of an entree of cheesy chicken spaghetti casserole, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Cost for the lunch is $12. Reservations are required by calling 773-2424.
