Goshen road closures OK’d

Road closures for upcoming events were approved by the Goshen Board of Public Works and Safety Monday.

The board approved closing Ind. 119 (Plymouth Avenue) July 12 from 7 a.m. to noon for the safety of Kids’ and Teens’ Try-Athalon event. Participants will cross Plymouth during their biking and running routes.

The closure will consist of barricades at Plymouth Avenue and Third Street and Plymouth and Indiana avenues.

The Try-Athalon is an annual event put on by the Goshen Parks and Recreation Department.

The board also approved the Goshen Chamber of Commerce’s request to close Ind. 15 (Main Street) from 1 p.m. July 11 to 6 a.m. July 13 for a Sidewalk and Grill-Out Event.

The closure will be on Main Street from Madison Street to Lincoln Avenue. A detour route will be provided along Third Street and Lincoln Avenue.

In other matters, the board approved granting mechanical licenses for work in the city to Andrew T. Bone of South Bend and Dennis R. Kent of Stahl Heating & Air Conditioning, Bristol.
