Tevye and tradition

MIDDLEBURY, Ind. — “Fiddler on the Roof” will be performed this week as the Northridge High School music and theater departments team up for the production.
The musical will open Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Northridge Auditorium, and performances are also scheduled Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 and available at the school’s front office, although the weekend performances are filling up.
The family-oriented musical portrays the difficulties of a Jewish family living under a Russian czar.
As hard as Tevya tries to keep the traditions of his faith and his culture, times are changing. And with those changes come acceptance of new ideas — including the marriages of his three daughters.
And if that’s not enough of a headache for Tevye, his wife Golde must be “convinced” that change can be a good thing despite tradition!
