THE GOSHEN NEWS
ELKHART — Former Republican presidential candidate and now FOX News personality Mike Huckabee, will begin a five-city road tour in Elkhart today to outline the problems facing Elkhart County and ideas to solve the problems.
Filming of the “Huckabee Report” titled “Save This Town: Live from Elkhart, Ind.” is set today at the RV Hall of Fame, 21565 Executive Parkway, near C.R.s 6 and 17. Admission for those wanting to be in the audience is free.
Gates will be open from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., and filming is set for 2:30 to 4 p.m.
The show will be taped outdoors and members of the audience should expect to sit outside.
The Huckabee Report will be broadcast both tonight and again Sunday on FOX TV.
Gov. Huckabee is coming to Elkhart because as a former governor, he is one person who can understand what people are going through, said Woody Fraser, executive producer of the show. “He’s one guy on TV who can afford to go places and people understand why he’s there. And he can understand the people,” the producer said.
During the show, a group of local business, banking and real estate representatives are expected to appear, as well as Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore. Fraser said four or five chief executive officers of diverse companies may be asked about ideas to help Elkhart County.
“We’ll look for answers,” he said. “We are looking at it as the glass is half full, not half empty,” Fraser said Friday.
He said 400 chairs will be set up for the audience.
He added that instead of the Huckabee show’s “Little Rockers” band appearing, an Elkhart County group was organized this week and was set to play five songs Friday night with Huckabee, who plays bass. The new group, the “Little Elkhart Band,” is set to perform at the end of the Huckabee show in place of the “Little Rockers.”
