Lions to host chicken barbecue

The Millersburg Lions Club annual chicken barbecue by Nelson’s Golden Glo is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 29.

Tickets are $5 per half and may be purchased from Lions Club Members by calling 642-4822 or 642-4090.

Pick-up spots will be Clinton Township Fire Department, Benton Township Fire Department and Tractor Supply Co., Goshen. Tickets will not be guaranteed after 1 p.m. March 29.

Entries will be taken for the Millersburg Lions Club annual benefit golf scramble to benefit Sonshine Daycare and other community needs.

The event will take place May 17 with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. at Timber Ridge Golf Course, Millersburg.

Fees are $70 per player, a portion of which is tax-deductible. Fees include green fees, cart, mulligans and string, a continental breakfast and lunch, as well as awards and a special gift for players.

Entry forms must be received by May 10, and can be mailed to Millersburg Lions Club Golf Outing, care of Sam Lashley 209 Travis Court, Millersburg, IN 46543.

Garrett Lash benefit



A special benefit will be hosted by Pizza Depot, Millersburg, March 31 to assist the family of Garrett Lash, infant son of Angie and Heath Lash.

Garrett has received extensive medical care due to a genetic disease following his birth Nov. 3.

Pizza Depot owner Priscilla Hile has designated 20 percent of sales on that day to be donated to the child’s ongoing medical bills.

Millersburg Elementary



The fifth-grade girls will host the Benton Bobcats at 4 this afternoon in the gymnasium.

Fairfield High School



There will be a school board meeting this evening at 7 in the Administration Office. Superintendent Tom Tumey and administrative personnel will present their recommendation for redistricting at this meeting.

The junior high winter sports awards for girls basketball and wrestling will be held at 6:30 p.m. this evening in the auditorium.

Report cards will go home with junior-senior high students Friday.

The high school winter sports awards night will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the auditorium.

The Hacienda Day fund-raiser for the Fairfield Music Boosters will be Wednesday at Hacienda, Goshen. Coupons are available from music students and must be redeemed with staff at the restaurant.

Students will not attend school March 21 to observe Good Friday.
