EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter is announcing a new Web site to provide information on identity theft.
The Web site is part of the attorney general’s new Identity Theft Unit, created to assist victims and law enforcement personnel.
Carter says that a few years ago, only a few dozen identity theft complaints were filed through his office. There were 70 complaints in the past two years.
He says the first signs of identity theft are often credit card bills for charges you didn’t incur.
An Identity Theft Victim Kit is available at www.IndianaConsumer.com/IDTheft or by calling (800) 382-5516.
