Rep. Stutzman seeks re-election

— State Rep. Marlin A. Stutzman of Howe, a Republican, filed for re-election on Friday. He will seek to retain his House District 52 seat.
Stutzman said that during his three terms in office he has been a strong voice for LaGrange, Noble and Dekalb counties. He served as chairman of the Public Policy Committee in 2005, and is presently the assistant minority whip, helping to shape the policies and direction of the Republican House Caucus.
Stutzman also serves on several House committees: Agriculture, Public Policy, and Family/Human Affairs.
Stutzman said he has been working to bring about permanent property tax relief for Hoosiers, and is in support of state spending caps to reign in state government spending.
In past legislative sessions, Stutzman has authored and proposed legislation to move the ISTEP test from the fall to the spring, and this past year the State Board of Education approved the change.
He is also currently working on legislation to include truck registrations in the “roads and highways” funding formula, in an effort to bring more money back to District 52 for road improvements.
He continues to support the “Traditional Marriage Amendment” and pro-life legislation.
Stutzman lives in Howe with his wife Christy and their sons, Payton and Preston. Stutzman is co-owner of Stutzman Farms with his father Albert Stutzman; farming approximately 3,500 acres in the Michiana area. He also owns and operates Stutzman Farms Trucking.
