CORRECTION: Legion steak fry not today
It was incorrectly reported that the American Legion in Middlebury will host a steak fry tonight. The steak fry is not until June 28. The News regrets the error.
Euchre Tuesdays, dinners at VFW
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 985 in Goshen will be open this week for public meals and card play.
Anyone who likes to play euchre is welcome at the Post every Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a euchre party.
On Friday, a ham and scalloped potato dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Bingo will begin at 7 p.m.
The Post will be open for breakfast June 14 from 8 to 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The smoke-free, handicap accessible VFW is located at 1201 W. Pike St. in Goshen. For information about banquet hall rental, call 533-6460.
Genealogical society to meet June 19
The Daughters of the American Revolution and Sons of the American Revolution will be the topic of the program for the Elkhart County Genealogical Society meeting June 19 at 7 p.m.
The meeting will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Beardsley Ave., Elkhart. Members JoAnn Cummins and Ann Mann will address the importance, benefits and documentation required to become a member of DAR and SAR. The speakers will instruct those present how to begin the process. All meetings of the Elkhart County Genealogical Society are free and open to the public. Church Community Services is in need of volunteers. Those who would like to give a few hours to a local food pantry or the Elkhart County Food Bank are needed. Available time slots are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays 4 to 7 p.m.
Volunteers are also needed at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for a minimum of three hours, one day a week, morning or afternoon at 2526 Peddler’s Village Road, Goshen.
