Provisional ballot counting today
The Elkhart County Election Board will be meeting with the appointed provisional ballot counters at 1:30 p.m. today in Room 108 of the County Office Building, 117 N. Second St., Goshen. The purpose of the meeting is to determine the status of provisional ballots cast in the 2014 Primary Election on May 6.
Three local agencies receive Homeland grants
The Indiana Homeland Security Foundation has approved more than $400,000 in grants to aid public safety agencies statewide.
Among them are three local agencies:
• Town of Syracuse Police Department was awarded $3,878.40 for radios.
• Topeka Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $4,000 for voice pagers.
• Town of Topeka Police Department was awarded $4,000 for computers.
The focus of the foundation is to support the future of public safety and to provide grant funding to local agencies for critical needs across Indiana. Grants of up to to $4,000 are provided.
Public library meeting today
The board of trustees of Goshen Public Library will have a staff and finance committee meeting today at 10:15 a.m. The meeting will take place in Room A/B in the lower level of the library at 601 S. Fifth St., Goshen.

Laser show Friday
At 7 p.m. Friday, there will be a laser show at the Wawasee High School gym, and the public is invited to attend. Organizers say it will be a family-oriented event, and there is no cost to attend.
Stars & Stripes 5K Saturday
Junior Achievement Stars & Stripes 5K Run-Walk will take place at Lakeside Fitness in Syracuse Saturday.
Registration will take place from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m., and the race will begin at 9 a.m.

The cost is $25 the day of the race.
