Genealogical society to meet Thursday
The Elkhart County Genealogical Society’s next meeting will be Thursday at 7 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Beardsley Ave., Elkhart. Attendees should use the northeast entrance. The meeting will be on the lower level.
Jeanne Regan-Dinus, director of special initiatives for the Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology, will share information on the care and restoration of cemeteries. She will suggest proper ways to clean tombstones so that permanent damage is not done to the stone.
All meetings are free and open to the public.
Hawaiian lunch for seniors May 16
Local seniors are invited to a Senior Hawaiian Lunch at Life Care Center of LaGrange May 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal will include grill-style hamburgers and hot dogs and traditional side dishes. Attendees are also invited to wear their favorite Hawaiian attire. The lunch will be free with the donation of a non-perishable food item. All donations will go to the LaGrange County Council on Aging.
The event is part of activities Life Care Center of LaGrange has scheduled for National Nursing Home Week, which begins on Mother’s Day and runs through May 17.

NWHS Spring Festival of Bands May 16
The bands of NorthWood High School will present the annual Spring Festival of Bands concert May 16 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
The concert will feature performances by NWMS Eighth-Grade Concert Band, NWHS Wind Ensemble and NWHS Percussion Ensemble. Each band will showcase their ISSMA Festival selections which earned gold ratings. The program will also include highlights from Disney’s “Frozen.”
