GOSHEN

Karaoke, euchre and chicken at the VFW

Members of the community are invited to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 985 in Goshen for meals, karaoke and card play.

Anyone who likes to play euchre is welcome at the Post every Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a euchre party.

On June 20, a broasted chicken dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Bingo will begin at 7 p.m. with karaoke in the canteen at 7 p.m.

The VFW is a family-friendly facility, located at 1201 W. Pike St. in Goshen. It is smoke-free, handicap accessible. For details on banquet hall rental, call 533-6460.

MILLERSBURG

Summer program for children runs through July 3

Millersburg Summer Program is going on at Cook Station Park.

This is a teacher-led program for students who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade. This camp is free for all local students and runs until July 3. The hours are from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

Activities have not been finalized, but in the past have included: crafts, games, and field trips to Syracuse Lake beach and Goshen swimming pool (fields trips are free or at a reduced cost).

Bethany Christian needs host families

Bethany Christian School has incoming international students from China who are in need of host families.

Host families are provided with a monthly stipend of $700. More information can be found at www.gphomestay.com

Anyone who is interested may apply.

To help spread the word, the following offer is being made: If an approved host family lists your organization as the referral source, a $150 donation to your organization will be given for each accepted family.

Three Goshen elementary schools — Chandler, Chamberlain and West Goshen — are providing free meals to all students during the school year as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision of the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. Nearly 80 percent of students at Chandler, 89 percent of students at Chamberlain and 78 percent of students at West Goshen already qualify for free or reduced-price lunches based on their family income.
