ELKHART

Jesse’s Warrior Mission Motorcycle Ride Saturday

Staff Sgt. Jesse Lee Williams lost his life in Afghanistan on a military mission. A Blackhawk helicopter carrying Sgt. Williams and six others was brought down by the enemy Dec. 17, 2013.

In the same way Williams helped others, his friends have formed the group, Jesse’s Warriors, to raise funds for service members overseas.

All are invited to participate in the first-ever Jesse’s Warrior Mission Motorcycle Ride Saturday. The ride will be escorted by police, fire and military motorcycle clubs. The public is invited to show support by lining the mission route.

Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Hoosier Harley Davidson, 720 W. Bristol St., in Elkhart. The 50-mile mission ride will begin at noon and conclude with live music, food and beverages. Donation to participate is $15 per rider or $25 for a rider and passenger. Commemorative T-shirts will be available for the first 200 riders.

Get UP and GOshen June 21

Everyone is invited to a family wellness event, Get UP and GOshen, set to take place June 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to residents of Goshen and surrounding communities.

Register from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Schrock Pavilion at Shanklin Park in Goshen.

2014 Get UP and GOshen free events include:

• Walking or biking the Millrace Trail to the Goshen Farmer’s Market

• Fun and interactive learning stations in the park and along the trail, including cardio drumming, hula hooping, Zumba, car seat checks (9 to 11 a.m.), dental health, nutrition information, bike safety checks (take your own bike) and more

• Participating families can receive a choice of gifts plus $10 in IU Health Bucks to spend on fresh produce at the Farmer’s Market, good only the day of the event.
