“9 To 5 The Musical opens at the Amish Acres Round Barn Theatre July 30.
The musical is based on the 1980 film that starred Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton, and features a score by Parton.
“9 to 5 The Musical” will be directed and choreographed by Round Barn regular Amber Burgess. Burgess returns after directing and choreographing the production of “Sisters of Swing” in 2012.
The cast stars RBT alumni Emily Baer Dunn as Violet. Baer Dunn portrayed Grizabella in “Cats” and Dolly in “Hello, Dolly!” She’ll be joined by RBT alumni Sarah Philabaum, who is currently portraying Ruth Winters in “Plain and Fancy,” and newcomer Angie Fisher who has been portraying Katie Yoder in the 27th anniversary production of “Plain and Fancy.” Philabaum and Fisher are portraying Doralee and Judy, respectively.
The cast will also feature returning alumni Rory Dunn, Steven Freitas, Benjamin Lee Jackson Timothy Leonard and Sarah McGowan.
All patrons are invited to join the cast and the staff of Amish Acres for an opening night reception that includes wine, cheese, information about the show and a toast to opening night. The reception will take place in the Wine Tasting Loft in the Restaurant Barn July 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The cast, director and Round Barn Theatre staff will be mingling during a meet-and-greet and also available to give their insight into the production. Artistic Director Jeremy Littlejohn and Executive Producer Richard Pletcher will discuss the history and research that went into the making of the show.
