Town council to meet

The Milford Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Milford Town Hall.

LIGONIER

Girls, boys basketballregistration underway

Basketball registration for boys and girls in third, fourth and fifth grade will end Monday at the Ligonier Sports and Recreation Center.

Games will be played on Saturday mornings beginning Jan. 11.

The cost to register is $25. Coaches are needed.

Extension to providedairy nutrition update

Staff at the Purdue-Elkhart County Extension Office will host a dairy nutrition update for dairy producers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Elkhart County Community Center-Martin Room at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Attendees should note that the C.R. 34/Monroe Street Bridge is closed and a detour map may be found on the Extension’s website, www.ces.purude.edu/elkhart.

Herbert Bucholtz, professor emeritus of Michigan State University, and Tamilee Nennich, dairy Extension specialist of Purdue University, will lead the disscusion on nutrition-related matters including how to deal with high feed prices, 2013 corn silage, single TMR vs. Multi-TMR rations and other topics.

Participatns should be prepared to ask questions to the workshop speakers or send questions to Robert Kelly, kelly115@purdue.edu. Advanced registration is requested by Monday. The workshop is free. Reservations can be made by calling the Purdue-Elkhart County Office at 574-533-0554.

Hacienda fundraiser to benefit Behavior Analysis Center Monday

Staffers at Behavior Analysis Center for Autism (BACA) facility in Elkhart, BACA Hart, are partnering with the local Hacienda Mexican Restaurant for a special fundraiser.

The “Hacienda Gives Back Fiesta” for BACA Hart takes place Monday at Hacienda Elkhart, located at 186 Easy Shopping Place in Elkhart.

Through the “Hacienda Gives Back Fiesta” program, restaurant staffers donate 20 percent of the day’s total proceeds from BACA supporters, who are asked to provide Gives Back Tokens when they pay. The fundraiser takes place during Hacienda Elkhart’s hours, which are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
