Goshen students build playhouse

GOSHEN — Goshen High School students built a playhouse this fall as part of the building trades program.

The classes, Construction Framing and Construction Finishing, built the playhouse for Merit Learning Center Prinicipal Kristen Watt’s family, according to instructor Elroy Holsopple.

The project was done between mid-October and the beginning of December.

Students read the blueprints, made a cutting list and teams of students worked on the sandbox, the flooring and custom windows.

“They did good work, I was really impressed with them,” Holsopple said.”

According to Holsopple, the class typically builds some kind of small building each year and in the past have built a chicken coop, garden shed and other small buildings.

Students from the course can go on to take the next level of construction trade classes where they build and sell an entire home.

Holsopple is looking for two projects for students to work on in the spring. Anyone with a possible project can contact him by email at eholsopple@goshenschools.org or 574-533-8651, ext. 2452.

But when the topic is children, 19 is a v

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
