Upcoming Third House series announced
The Third House series of meetings in Elkhart with state lawmakers has begun for 2014. Coffee and chairs are promised to the first 60 people in the door, organizers said, and people wanting to stand in the back of the room are welcome to coffee, too.
The schedule will be a little different this year. Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce officials say they wanted to balance the public’s desire to have timely input while respecting the fact lawmakers spend most of the week away from home.
As such, Friday luncheons have been added to the schedule.
The upcoming meetings include:
• Today from noon to 1 p.m. at the Elkhart Public Library, 300 S. Second St.
• Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Elkhart Chamber
• Friday, March 7, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Elkhart Chamber
• Saturday, March 22, (tentative) from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Elkhart Chamber.
For the Friday events, Chamber officials will be offering people a lunch option — $7 sandwich, sides and treat from Pumpernickel’s.
To reserve a lunch for Friday’s meeting go online to Elkhart.org. Attendees can provide their own “brown bag” lunchs, too.
