---- — Another year in the books and many, many photos have been taken.
These are a selection of my favorite news photos, including a couple of never-before-published shots that I liked but for one reason or another ended up out of the paper.
One photo, like that of school board president Jane Troup and Goshen schools superintendent Diane Woodworth got me in hot water with the subjects because it did not show them in a professional light.
However, that’s exactly why I liked the photo and since they were celebrating a victory, I felt the photo summed up the moment well.
I also covered what were probably two of the biggest funerals in the state this year; that of former Governor Otis “Doc” Bowen in May and Indianapolis Police Officer Rod Bradway in September.
While both were somber occasions, I felt like I was able to capture moments that honored the deceased in a fitting way.
The others are just the daily life of a newspaper photographer; moments of excitement and fun as well as the slice of life in the city I cover and work in.
