Local doctors to appear on interactive television show

— ELKHART, Ind. — Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women, claiming more than 40,000 lives in the United States last year alone, according to local cancer experts.
One in eight women is at risk for developing breast cancer in their lifetime – but thanks to early detection and medical advancements, today more than two million women in the United States are breast cancer survivors, states a release from the Center for Cancer Care at Goshen Health System.
Discussing the risk factors, importance of early detection, diagnosis and treatment available for breast cancer, a panel of experts from the Center for Cancer Care will appear on WNIT-TV’s “Ask an Expert” program today from 8 to 9 p.m.
The guest panel will include Dr. Laura Morris, Dr. Marcia Prenguber, Dr. Carol Westbrook and Dr. James Wheeler. Each panelist will offer a perspective in the cancer center’s integrative approach to breast cancer treatment.
Dr. Morris is a board-certified breast surgeon and advocate for women’s health.
Dr. Morris also serves as the medical director of The Retreat, Goshen Health System’s women’s health center.
Dr. Prenguber, a board-certified naturopathic oncologist, is director of integrative care at Goshen Center for Cancer Care.
Dr. Prenguber works closely with medical, surgical and radiation oncologists to develop and implement cancer treatment programs that integrate noninvasive, natural therapies with conventional treatment to achieve overall health and wellness.
Dr. Westbrook is a board-certified medical oncologist who has pursued an active research career in the genetic analysis of breast cancer, colon cancer, and hematologic malignancies, leading to over 100 publications and one patent for leukemia diagnosis.
Dr. Wheeler is a board-certified radiation oncologist and serves as director of the radiation oncology program.
Dr. Wheeler has extensive experience in the latest techniques for treating cancer and is supportive of treating patients on clinical trials.
The hour-long program is a live call-in show that invites viewers to call and ask their pressing questions about breast cancer to the panel of experts. The number to call during the WNIT-TV program will appear on the TV screen.
