Acupuncturist opens office at The Retreat

THE GOSHEN NEWS

The public has a couple of opportunities to meet the newest addition to The Retreat Women’s Health Center’s Complementary and Alternative Medicine program — Dr. Aroop Banerji.

Banerji is a naturopathic doctor and a licensed acupuncturist.

Dr. Banerji completed his doctoral training in naturopathic medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Wash.

The Retreat has planned events Wednesday and May 20 to give patients the opportunity to meet Dr. Banerji in person and learn more about the services he will provide.

Dr. Banerji will discuss the benefits of acupuncture from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in The Retreat Conference Center, 1135 Professional Drive, Goshen.

According to a press release from The Retreat, acupuncture has been used for centuries in Asian cultures to regulate the energy circulation throughout the body.

The Retreat release adds that The National Institutes of Health recognizes its efficacy in treating a number of health conditions including arthritis, neuropathy, hot flashes, insomnia and digestive complaints.

On May 20 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in The Retreat Conference Center, Dr. Banerji will lead an interactive discussion on naturopathic medicine and how it compares to conventional medicine, as well as how it can benefit a patient’s health.

According to the release, naturopathic medicine is an adjunct medical specialty combining the latest research in modern medicine with centuries-old natural therapies to achieve total health and wellness.

“The Retreat embraces a holistic approach to medicine, combining the best advanced technologies with centuries-old traditional medicine that treats the entire person,” said Laurie Busby, executive director of The Retreat. “Having Dr. Banerji on staff as a full time naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist enables us to further the outstanding services already being offered to our patients.”
