Obama plays politics with the victims of sex trafficking

— During his speech to the U.N. President Obama made an impassioned appeal to the world to fight human trafficking. I found the President’s comments surprising in light of his actions toward victims of sex trafficking in the past.

The Catholic Church’s Office of Migration and Refugee Services had been on the cutting edge of fighting sex trafficking in 64 countries since 2006. Its highly rated program had been considered a model. But last May, the department of HHS cut their funding. Why? They didn’t offer “family planning services and the full range of legally permissible gynecological and obstetric care.” In other words, they didn’t offer abortions.

So what does this mean? Does the president think women and children no longer mind being raped on a daily basis as long as they can abort any resulting babies? Does it mean he thinks it is ethical to use the victims of sex trafficking as pawns in his desire to push a pro-abortion agenda? President Obama is an excellent speaker who appears to be very compassionate. Unfortunately, his actions speak louder than his words.
