Maple City Walk was a success

— Downtown Goshen, Inc. hosted the fourth annual Maple City Walk Sept. 29. The half and full marathon walk started and ended at the Powerhouse Park on the Mill Race, continued on the Maple City Greenway and featured the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail. Many thanks to the sponsors of this event: IU Health Goshen Community Benefit Fund, Cripe Septic Cleaning Service, Elkhart County Parks, Friends of the Pumpkinvine, Goshen Parks and Recreation Department, Hawkins Water Tech, l.o.l Health and Fitness, Maple City Market, Woldruff’s Footwear and Apparel. Because of your help the walk was a success. The winner of the pair of walking shoes was Chris Walters.

Goshen is fortunate to have a coordinated system of pedestrian/bicycle paths with linkage to the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail, the MapleHeart Trail and Winona Interurban Trail. These are valuable community resources that promote sustainability, healthy lifestyles and recreation and make Goshen a city of choice. Many thanks also to all the walkers who enjoyed a lovely fall day and completed the half and full marathon walks. We hope to see you back next year, Sept. 28, 2013.
