Thanks for the ‘Be a Santa’ help this year

— On behalf of the staff at Home Instead Senior Care, I would like to thank everyone who helped with this year’s very successful “Be a Santa to a Senior” program.

With support from generous shoppers, area Walgreens’ store managers and associates; volunteers from RSVP in Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties; the Notre Dame and Goshen College Baseball teams; Bethel College Women’s Soccer; students from St. Joseph High School and Penn High School; Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana; volunteers from the ELkhart YMCA Healthy Living Center; employees of several nursing homes; and even Home Instead Senior Care CAREGivers, we were able to collect, wrap and deliver more than 1,000 gifts for local seniors who otherwise might have been overlooked this holiday season.

We also would like to thank the many volunteers who shared their time to collect, wrap and deliver the gifts to 600 area seniors who continue to struggle during these tough economic times.

Thanks to all those who helped us brighten the holidays for our local seniors and truly make a difference in our community.
