I’d like to correct the statement in the Aug. 11 Goshen News article (“Ripe for a ride”) that stated the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail is complete. It is not complete.
It’s true that two sections of the trail in Middlebury were completed this summer — the 1.4 miles between U.S. 20 and Wayne Street and .2 miles between York Drive and the Dairy Queen along Ind. 13. These additions to the trail mean that 14.3 miles of the 16.5-mile trail are complete.
However, two gaps in the trail remain — between C.R. 33 and C.R. 35 in Elkhart County and between C.R. 850 W. and downtown Shipshewana in LaGrange County. It is our hope that it will be possible to extend the trail through these sections someday. When that happens, the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail will be complete.
