LETTERS FOR FEB. 28, 2014: People make ‘Pearls’ a success

Goshen News

---- — Recently, the SPA Women’s Ministry Home of Elkhart held its annual dinner and auction fund-raiser, “Pearls of Great Price,” at Elkhart Baptist Church. More than 400 people attended and participated in a wonderful catered dinner, silent auction and the much-anticipated dessert auction.

We would like to give special thanks to sponsors Lake City Bank, Shipshewana Auction, Inc., Lippert Components and Elkhart Baptist Church, who made this year’s benefit possible. And thank you to all those who purchased tickets and gave generously to the silent/dessert auctions. The cake with the top bid brought $2,725 and five other cakes brought more than $1,000 each, helping to bring the total raised to over $45,000.

Highlighting the evening were the moving testimonies of two SPA Women’s Ministry home graduates. These women are beautiful examples of how, with your support, we are able to continue with our mission to provide an educational and faith-based residential program to women affected by domestic violence, addictions, mental/emotional abuse, etc., and set them on the path to healthy, victorious lives.

Rogers supports Nisly

I am pleased to voice my support for Curt Nisly in the Republican primary election for Indiana State House District 22, which includes parts of Kosciusko and Elkhart counties. Curt Nisly has a political philosophy similar to mine — one rooted in the safeguards of the Indiana and United States Constitutions.

These are trying times for freedom, and we need principled leaders at the Statehouse who will work to reverse the growth of government power. I have every confidence Curt Nisly will be a strong voice for liberty and a responsive legislator for his constituents in House District 22.

Fish fry leaves taste of goodwill

To all of you who attended Dan’s Fish Fry this past Saturday at the West Goshen Church of the Brethren, let me offer our heartfelt thanks. The funds we were able to raise through your generosity will help to underwrite church activities throughout this year.

Thank you for the confidence you have placed in us. We will continue to do everything possible to earn your continued trust and goodwill.
