On behalf of United Cancer Services of Elkhart County, I want to thank the people of the Elkhart County area for their tremendous response to this year’s fifth annual compassion walk.
Disregarding the hints of a slowing economy, the compassion walk volunteers set an ambitious goal of raising $50,000, an almost 10 percent increase over last year’s record-breaking walk. However, thanks to the hard work of the pledge walkers, donors, sponsors and volunteers, United Cancer shattered that goal and raised nearly $60,000!
All of this money will stay in the Elkhart County area helping local cancer patients pay for their treatment, supplies and medicine. That’s because United Cancer is not a branch office of a national organization. This local nonprofit cancer agency was founded 50 years ago in Elkhart County and operates only here.
The good people of the Elkhart County area clearly care about their neighbors and are willing to demonstrate that caring through their good deeds. On behalf of everyone at United Cancer, thank you once again for supporting our mission to help local cancer patients.
