Friends to meet


The Wakarusa Friends of the Library will meet Sept. 3 at 1 p.m.

Bingo

“Back to School — BINGO” will take place Sept. 10 at 3:30 p.m. This after-school activity is for students in kindergarten through fifth grades. Prizes will be awarded. Registration is required.

Board meeting

The Wakarusa Library Board of Trustees will meet Sept. 13 at 7:45 a.m. in the library meeting room. The public is invited to attend.

‘Book Bites’

Sept. 11 is the date for the next “Book Bites” program for children ages 3 to 5. This session will take place in the children’s area of the library at 10:15 a.m. Participants will hear a story, make a craft or have an activity. No registration is required.

Service honored

Joyce McDowell served the Wakarusa Library Board of Trustees for 16 years. To honor her service, “A University of Tradition: The Spirit of Purdue” compiled by the Purdue Reamer Club and “Roots of Home” by Russell Versaci have been given to the library by the Wakarusa Public Library Board.

Dial A Story

The Dial A Story tale this week is “The Caterpillar’s Surprise.” Hear the story by calling 862-4441.

Fall programs


Fall sign-up has started for Babies and Books, Toddler Time, Story Time and Home School Club programs. Call or stop by the library to register. Programs start the week of Sept. 3. See the Kids homepage on the library website for program details.

Cinema Showcase

The comedy “Parental Guidance” will be shown at the library Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. The film, starring Billy Crystal and Bette Midler, is about grandparents who agree to babysit their three grandchildren.

Authors at library

New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray and author of Amish-themed fiction Vannetta Chapman will give readings from their latest books Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. Copies of their books will be available for purchase.

Holiday closing

The library will be closed on Labor Day.

  • LIBRARY NEWS: Hypnotherapist coming to Syracuse Angie Hernandez, certified Hypnotherapist, is presenting a session on using Emotional Freedom Technique, also called tapping, on from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. People are invited to a free class to experiment with this technique for self-healing. Nick Ortner, author of The Tapping Solution, says EFT is a type of meridian tapping that combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.
