The Westview High School staff has selected seven students to receive “Student Ambassador of the Month” honors for April. The students were selected by their teachers.
The Student Ambassadors are: Jayden Slabach, Angie Handshoe, Andrea Weaver, Brianna Strong, Dawson Oesch, Fallon Wisel and Kaylee Kauffman.
Memorial Day parade May 26
The Osceola Business Association will host the first parade of Memorial Day with a starting time of 8 a.m. Monday The theme of this year’s parade will be “Honoring All Our Military Heroes.” Families and friends are invited to line the street early to tailgate and share breakfast foods, snacks and beverages.
Line-up will begin at 7 a.m. along Osceola Avenue and Rogers Street and will travel east to west from Osceola Avenue to Lincoln Way to Grand Boulevard. Participants should be in line and ready to go at 7:45 a.m. A route map and applications are available at www.ocba.us or by calling 675-0015.
Trophies will be awarded for the Best Parade Unit, Best Antique Car, Classic Car, Marching Unit and Float.
Feed the Hungry will participate with a tractor-trailer parade unit. Volunteers will accept non-perishable food items in boxes or bags as the truck proceeds along the parade route.
Museum to host Family Fun Day
The Elkhart County Museum staff will host its monthly Family Fun Day Saturday. The theme will be Hooves, Horns, Tracks and Tails. The event will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Cost will be $1 or $3 per family.
Animals have always been an important part of history; whether they were a source of food, power, or transportation. Visitors will learn and see examples of how animals have been used over time.
Wawasee honors program May 28
The public and parents are invited to attend the 46th annual Honors Program at Wawasee High School May 28. The event will take place at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Awards and scholarships will be presented. Seniors receiving an Indiana Academic Honors Diploma, an Indiana Technical Honors Diploma and those graduating with distinction and highest distinction will be recognized, as will the valedictorian and salutatorian.
