LIBRARY NEWS: Book sale planned in Waky

Something new has been added to the Friends of the Library Book Sale.

An advance sale of books will take place April 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. for those who are members of the Friends of the Library. Membership forms will be available at the door.

The Book Sale will continue April 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and April 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library will be closed on April 20, but entry can be gained on the north side of the building.

Story Hour

A blue sea landscape will be created during Story Hour on April 15 and 16 at 10:15 a.m. The theme for these sessions will be the color blue. Registration is required.

Contest winner

Kristen Showalter was the winner in the March drawing contest. The correct number of buttons in the jar was 292. Showalter received four books as her prize.

Prizes

This week is National Library Week. Library staffers will celebrate with a prize to be given away every day. Patrons can enter obtain a drawing slip each day when they check out.

Dial A Story

“An Old Woman and Her Pig” is the Dial A Story selection for this week. This is the story of an old woman and her way of getting home with her pig. Hear this tale by telephoning 862-4441.

Spring Story Time


Miss Julie will read the children’s classic, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle and other stories about caterpillars during Spring Story Time this week. Children will make crafts to take home and share a snack with their Story Time companions.

Story time is for children ages 3 to 6. Sessions are set for Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. There will also be a session Thursday at 7 p.m.

Lapsit

Lapsit will begin at the library Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Lapsit is for children ages newborn through 3 years old. Caregivers participate with their infants.

Miss Heidi will be doing finger plays, songs and reading books about creatures that live in a small pond. Sign up by calling 658-4312.

Puzzle project

Library staffers will have a puzzle out on a table upstairs for all puzzle fans to work on.

This puzzle is in memory of Sharon Gilbert, who died in March this year. Gilbert was a member of the Friends of Milford Library. She helped create the new cookbook that is now for sale. Gilbert had many puzzles and enjoyed working on them.

The puzzle will be out starting today.
