Summer Story Time


Families are invited to Summer Story Time sessions Fridays at 11 a.m. Register at the children’s desk.

Upcoming program themes include “Farm Animals,” “Growing Things” and “Families.” Each family attending a Story Time will be given a new book.

Summer Reading Program

Malea Vanlaningham will be the guest storyteller at the library Friday at 11 a.m. Vanlaningham’s theme will be “Favorite Foods.”

Knitting club

The next evening knitting club session is set for Thursday at 6 p.m. Participants should provide their own supplies.

Whisper the dog

Whisper the dog will be at the library Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Children can read to Whisper for 20 minutes. Sign-up in the children’s department.

‘Gametruck’


Children in the “Dig into Reading Program” who have read for three weeks will have a ticket to play video games when the “Gametruck” comes to the library Tuesday. Later in the day, teens in the “Beneath the Surface” reading program who have read four books will have a ticket to play video games.

Craft activity

Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m., “crafty” library patrons are invited to make bookmarks to give away as presents for other people who read in the Syracuse library. Paper, glue and printing tools will be provided.

Book club

Members of the Adult Book Club will meet Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to join the roundtable discussion focused on a story by neurologist Lisa Genova.

  • LIBRARY NEWS: Hypnotherapist coming to Syracuse Angie Hernandez, certified Hypnotherapist, is presenting a session on using Emotional Freedom Technique, also called tapping, on from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. People are invited to a free class to experiment with this technique for self-healing. Nick Ortner, author of The Tapping Solution, says EFT is a type of meridian tapping that combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. Tapping utilizes the body’s energy meridian points by stimulating them with your fingertips.
