Success deserves a repeat performance.

The second-annual Show Choir Tapestry, put on by Fairfield High School personnel, is set for 4 p.m. Sunday at The Lerner Theatre in downtown Elkhart. The event is a showcase for Elkhart County high school singing groups.

Ben Kambs, Fairfield choir director, is the executive producer. Samantha Conrad is the coordinator and Dan Baker, director of the Northridge Northern Lights, is the producer/director.

“We conceived this event last year as an opportunity to bring area schools together in song,” Kambs said prior to a rehearsal Monday at The Lerner. He described that inaugural event as “fantastic.”

“We had a lot of great reviews from the community and from parents and from our students,” Kambs said. “Our students felt it was a really great chance to meet kids from other schools that they might not otherwise, and the chance to hear the other types of music offered.”

Kambs also pointed out that the concert coincides with the Thanksgiving season.

“We have chosen to title this event ‘Giving Thanks,’” he said. “And we do indeed give thanks for the opportunity to sing together. We’re thankful for the opportunity to sing in this wonderful venue here in downtown Elkhart. And we just really enjoy the chance to show the community what types of vocal music are available to students in our schools.”

Organizers said 321 students are set to perform Sunday at The Lerner. High school groups singing will include Fairfield Expressions and Fusion, Elkhart Central Shades of Blue, Concord Singers, Goshen Crimsonaires, Northridge Starlights, Northern Lights and Vocal Jazz, and NorthWood Dawning Generation.

Tickets to the show cost $18 and are available at the door. Kambs said the concert will last two and a half to three hours and include an intermission.
