Chamber ensemble to perform at GC

GOSHEN — The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, based in London, will perform at Goshen College as part of the college’s Performing Arts Series Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.

The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble was formed in 1967 to perform large chamber works — from quintets to octets. This ensemble of eight string musicians draws from the principal players of the orchestra who regularly work together, using their camaraderie to enhance and elevate their level of musicianship.

Known for their polished and refined sound, The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble has enchanted audiences and critics worldwide with their rich, polished sound and remarkable artistry. With performances rooted in outstanding musicianship, the string musicians recreate pieces from the Classical era as well as modern pieces. The program includes pieces from Dvorak, Mendelssohn, Brahms and Shostakovich.

Tickets are now on sale for $40, $35, $23 and are available through the Goshen College Welcome Center by calling (574) 535-7566, or emailing welcomecenter@goshen.edu.

Seating for those with disabilities is available. Tickets are nonrefundable.

The Goshen College Performing Arts Series debuted on Sept. 21, 1997. Since then, the college has hosted more than 100 concerts by some of the world’s greatest performers as part of the program.
