GOSHEN — The Count Basie Orchestra and New York Voices will be in concert as part of the Performing Arts Series April 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Goshen College’s Sauder Concert Hall.
The two ensembles garnered a Grammy Award in 1996 for their collaboration, “Live at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild.”
GC concert organizers say that despite Basie’s passing in 1984, his orchestra has remained a force in jazz music and has won 17 Grammy Awards. The orchestra under the direction of Dennis Mackrel.
The New York Voices had their first performances in 1988. The singing group draws from influences including jazz, Brazilian, rhythm and blues, classical and pop.
Tickets for the concert are on sale for $44, $40, $28 and are available online at goshen.edu/tickets or through the Goshen College Welcome Center by calling 574-535-7566, or emailing email@example.com.

The Goshen College Performing Arts Series debuted on Sept. 21, 1997. Since then, more than 100 concerts have taken place at GC as part of the series.
