'Piazza' program starts Saturday at Ruthmere

ELKHART — The “Coffee on the Piazza” program will return to Ruthmere Museum this spring and summer.

The music series is scheduled every Saturday morning — starting this coming Saturday — through Labor Day weekend. Starbucks coffee will be served from 9:30 a.m. to noon, with musicians performing from 10:30 a.m. to noon.  Visitors are invited to view the gardens.

Mike Reeb, a full-time touring musician from Lafayette, will be the first performer in the series. Returning guest artists include John Kennedy and Chris O’Brien of Kennedy’s Kitchen, Ivory West, Adrienne Frailey and folk group Old Clay Fields. Newcomers to Coffee on the Piazza will include Lukas Simpson of Goldmine Pickers, Joshua Barton and Elephant Rescue. In addition, Ruthmere will be the site of an extension of the Elkhart Jazz Festival June 22, with VibeNation scheduled to perform.

No admission charged for Coffee on the Piazza, which includes free Starbucks coffee and live music. Tours of the mansion are offered on the hour between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tour admission is $10 for adults and $4 for students. Children younger than 5 will be admitted free with an adult.
