Tuesday will be the last drawing for the “Like a Hug…” adult reading program. Two more winners for the baking scented candles will be selected from the contestants who registered their books in the program.
Tuesday also is the day library staffers will begin recording patron guesses as to the number of beans in the vase at the adult circulation desk. All library users are invited to take a chance to win a pound of chocolates from a local confectionary. Each person gets one guess, and the winning guess will be the one closest to the actual number.
The contest is open to any person who enters the library. The last entry will be accepted on Feb. 28.
Children’s department staffers are extending the snowman decorating contest through the month of February.
Young readers are invited to a “Hawaiian Luau”-themed book club meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m. Children in kindergarten to fifth grade are invited to the event, which will include food, games, stories and music.
The adult book club will meet Wednesday to talk about the book “Of Mice and Men.” New members are invited to attend. The discussion begins at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room.

Patrons can check out the display of books wrapped in pink paper in the adult area. The only clue to what’s inside will be a brief description attached to the outside cover of the package. Patrons are invited check the books out, take them home, unwrap them, read them and then rate their “dates” when they return the books to the library.
