'Little Mermaid' shows scheduled

Elkhart Civic Theatre shows opening on Friday

Performances of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr.” are scheduled this weekend at the Bristol Opera House, 210 E. Vistula St.

Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday, 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. The actors — ages 8 to 18 — are part of Elkhart Civic Theatre’s youth program ECTeam.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior sitizens age 62 and older. Call 574-848-4116 Monday through Friday from 1 to 5:30 p.m. for reservations, or purchase tickets online at www.elkhartcivictheatre.org

A synopsis of the show reads:

“Mermaid Princess Ariel wants so much more than her underwater kingdom, and she finds her chance at both love and adventure when Prince Eric is thrown overboard during a terrible storm. After his rescue to dry land, Ariel makes a bold pact with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to exchange her most precious asset for a chance to win back Eric’s true love.”

“Mermaid” music includes “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl,” “She’s In Love” and “Part of Your World.”

The part of Ariel will be played by Kellie MacGowan, with Robert Clark as Prince Eric, Bethany Wirick as the evil Ursula and Dreagon Moss as Ariel’s father, King Triton. Ariel’s friends will be portrayed by Christian Yoder (Flounder), Hannah Shetler (Sebastian) and Andrew Scott (Scuttle). The Mersisters are Bianca Chagoya, Bonnie MacGowan, Mary Balentine, McKenna Kaczanowski, Sarah Estes and Sarah Nolan. Joel Lininger, Katie Downing, Alana Snelson, Alexis Snelson, Morgan Dyer, Damian Stoner and Gavin Rusel play the multitude of servants to the royal families.

Filling out the cast are many ECTeam veterans mixed with new ECT performers: Audri Chagoya, Austin McCuen, Cadie Lee, Courtney Gin, Gabriella Klopfenstein, Isaiah Gates, Nevaeh Prater, Ricky Iniesta, Sylvia Awald, Tony Iniesta, Allina Bergstresser, Amelia Dean, Bobby Kiefer, Charlotte Myers, Elijah Lee, Ellie Dumka, Ethan Kercher, Ethan Nichols, Jordanna Farran, Kayla Thompson, Keara Bennett, Landon Dean, Lilah Dean, Olivia Bliler, Olivia Mann, Samantha Sarber, Savion Bias and Victoria VanPelt.

“The Little Mermaid Jr.” is directed by Brock Butler, with Missey Domiano as assistant director. The vocal director is Ashlea Romano, Tell Williams IV choreographs, and Sandy MacGowan is the company manager.
