---- — BRISTOL — The Elkhart Civic Theatre crew will present Stephen Sondheim’s musical comedy “Company” at the Bristol Opera House starting this weekend.

“Company” will be performed Friday and Saturday and March 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 8 p.m., with a matinee performance March 16 at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $17 for adults and $15 for students and senior citizens age 62 and older. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 574-848-4116 Monday through Friday from 1 to 5:30 p.m. or online at www.elhartcivictheatre.org.

Organizers say “Company” contains some adult themes and language and is not recommended for children age 13 or younger.

Sondheim, who also wrote the scores for popular shows including “Sweeney Todd” and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” fills “Company” with musical theater works including “Being Alive,” “Side By Side By Side,” “Ladies Who Lunch” and the title tune.

Elkhart Civic Theatre Executive Director Dave Dufour — who appeared in ECT’s first production of “Company” in 1980 — says, “It has been 34 years since we last presented this outstanding musical, and its return to the stage at the Bristol Opera House is long overdue. It speaks to today’s generation maybe more than when originally produced.”

The “Company” cast includes both veteran ECT performers and newcomers. Playing Bobby, the most available bachelor in New York City, is Jacob Medich (Walkerton). His friends are Susan South (Elkhart), John Shoup (Elkhart), Kristen Riggs (Elkhart), Joe Beauregard (Middlebury), Stephanie Yoder (Bristol), Patrick Farran (Goshen), Brock Butler (Elkhart), Natalie MacRae (South Bend), Sean Leyes (South Bend) and Stephanie Honderich (Goshen). The girlfriends in Bobby’s life are Rachel Raska (South Bend), Mandie Mickelson (South Bend) and Sarah Rogers (Howe).

Heidi Ferris (Middlebury) accompanies the show with Steve Salisbury (Middlebury) on percussion and Mike Boles (South Bend) on bass.

“Company” is directed by Stephanie Salisbury (Middlebury), with Steve Salisbury at assistant director. Heidi Ferris is the music and vocal director, with Jerry O’Boyle (Nappanee) as choreographer.
