New Paris woman injured in crash

A New Paris woman was injured in a two-vehicle collision at 9:40 a.m. Sunday near Millersburg.

According to Elkhart County police, Manuel Valdivia, 39, Ligonier, was driving his vehicle west on C.R. 142, just east of C.R. 23, and reported having a possible mechanical malfunction with his brakes, which caused him to be unable to stop at the intersection of C.R. 142 and C.R. 23. Valdivia’s vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a second vehicle heading north on C.R. 142. Neither Valdivia nor the driver of the second vehicle, Brock Maust, 33, New Paris, were injured in the crash. A passenger in Maust’s vehicle, Lindsay Maust, 31, New Paris, suffered neck pain and was transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital for treatment.

Two Bristol women and a Tennessee woman were injured in a two-vehicle collision Saturday near Elkhart.According to Elkhart County police, Christina Lay, 20, Bristol, was driving her vehicle east on C.R. 10 when she lost control of her vehicle and spun out, colliding it with a second vehicle heading east on C.R. 10, just west of C.R. 17. A passenger in Lay’s vehicle, Chanthy Lay, 24, Bristol, complained of pain on the left side of her face. A second passenger in Lay’s vehicle, Sokheng Lay, 55, Bristol, complained of pain to her right shoulder. The driver of the second vehicle, Deborah Mulholland, 48, Lewisburg, Tenn., complained of right leg pain. Christina Lay was cited for no insurance and failing to drive at a reduced speed for the road conditions.

Theft/burglary reports• Chris Rodriguez, 121 S. Silverwood Lane, Goshen, told Goshen police his son’s bicycle was stolen off of the back porch of their home at 5 p.m. Friday.

Assault/battery reports• Autumn Kiser, 31, 412 Oatfield Lane, Goshen, was arrested by Goshen police at 3:19 p.m. Saturday at her home on a charge of domestic battery in the presence of a minor. She was booked into the county jail.

    A package with a battery pack and a blinking red light found on the desk of an employee at MSC, 28551 Laura Court, Elkhart, caused police and firefighters to evacuate the area this morning.
    The package turned out to be a GPS tracking device and not a bomb.
