Eight hurt in Ind. 119 crash

GOSHEN — A two-vehicle crash southwest of Goshen early Sunday afternoon injured eight people.

The collision occurred around 12:33 p.m. at the intersection of Ind. 119 and C.R. 13. Elkhart County police said a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 driven by Mandolin Belke, 15, Elkhart, was stopped on C.R. 13 at the Ind. 119 intersection. According to police, Belke drove into the path of a 2012 Dodge Caravan driven by Jon D. Stahl, 59, Wakarusa. The vehicles collided and both overturned.

Police reported that Belke and Stahl suffered head lacerations. A passenger in the Chevrolet, Marque A. Belke, 51, Elkhart, suffered neck pain.

Several passengers in the Stahl vehicle, all Wakarusa residents, were also hurt. Judith Stahl, 58, suffered neck pain; Amanda Stahl, 24, had a neck abrasion; Gabrielle Stahl, 2, had a chest abrasion; Jeremy Stahl, 22, suffered lacerations on his elbows; and Alexa Oberholzer, 21, suffered neck pain.

The Belkes were transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital for treatment. The Stahls and Oberholzer were transported to Elkhart General Hospital.

Police said Mandolin Belke was cited for failing to yield the right of way at an intersection.
