ID made in death investigation

Officers with the Elkhart Police Department Homicide Unit released the identity of the individual in the death investigation from Sunday night in Old Farm Apartments in Elkhart.

Nicolas Ortiz Prado, 31, Elkhart, has been identified as the individual found dead after police were called to the area of Old Farm Apartments on the city’s south side around 7 p.m. The death remains under investigation waiting the final toxicology and autopsy results, police said in a press release.

Theft/burglary reports

• Dennis McGrew of Goshen told Goshen police someone stole his sport bag from him while walking in the area of Crescent and Bridge streets in Goshen at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.

• William Warner, 613 S. Third St., Goshen, told Goshen police someone forced entry into his residence between May 24 and Monday.

• Staff at Northridge High School, 56779 Northridge Drive, Middlebury, told Elkhart County police someone stole a cell phone and necklace from unlocked lockers in the girls P.E. gym locker room at 10:15 a.m. May 23.

Fraud reports

• Melissa Meade of Goshen told Goshen police someone fraudulently used her debit card around midnight May 25.

• John Ride, 219 Queen St., Goshen, told Goshen police of a scam involving the Jamaican Lottery at 12:01 a.m. May 15.

• Tiffany Johnson-Bussberg of Goshen told Goshen police her debit card number was fraudulently used at a Walgreens in Modesto, Calif., around noon May 24.

• Christina Carpenter of Goshen told Elkhart County police someone used her credit card number to make two unauthorized transactions totaling $366 around noon Monday.

Vandalism/criminal mischief reports

• An employee at The Depot, 1013 Division St., Goshen, told Goshen police someone spray painted graffiti on the building around 4 p.m. May 25.

• Nathen Rempel, 410 Cross St., Goshen, told Goshen police someone broke the window on the driver’s side of his van parked in front of his residence sometime Tuesday.

Battery reports

•`A 15-year-old juvenile told Goshen police of being battered by two males as he was walking through Mullet Park in the 500 block of S. Indiana Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

• Two students at Concord High School, 24050 C.R. 20, Elkhart, got into a fight after school at 3:26 p.m. Tuesday. Elkhart County police said two juvenile males, ages 16 and 14, received minor injuries to the face but did not receive medical treatment. Police said the case is under investigation.

Injured animals reports

• Goshen police were called to the 700 block of E. Reynolds Street for an injured or sick skunk at 7:23 a.m. Tuesday. Police disposed the animal.

OWI arrests

• Ryan W. Collar, 28, 304 Valley View Drive, Syracuse, was stopped in the area of Ind. 19, north of C.R. 6 by Elkhart County police for a traffic violation at 2:31 a.m. Wednesday. He was arrested on driving under the influence and incarcerated at the Elkhart County jail.
