THE GOSHEN NEWS

— Goshen police conducted a search of a home in the 300 block of North Chicago Avenue Friday night after receiving several complaints about drug-related activity at the residence.

According to police, officers went to the home to speak with the occupants about the complaints. Officers were reportedly denied consent to search the home, so they obtained a search warrant.

During the search, police reportedly found several items associated with the sale of illegal narcotics and marijuana. Information is being forwarded to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Crash reports

• Elkhart County police responded to a one-vehicle crash two miles north of Goshen Friday.

The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. at C.R.s 28 and 13. Police said a 2011 Jeep Compass driven by Alexandria Rogers, 32, Elkhart, went off the road, colliding first with a landscape rock and then a stop sign.

Police said Rogers was disoriented after the crash.

Theft/burglary reports

• An employee of CVS, 410 S. Main St., Goshen, told city police two males left the store without paying for food items shortly after midnight Saturday.

• Ron Davidhizer of Goshen told city police Saturday that someone stole a weed trimmer from a storage trailer at 511 N. Fifth St.

• Staff at Kohl’s, 3802 Midway Road, Goshen, told Goshen police three women left the store without paying for multiple items. The incident occurred around 2:24 p.m. Friday.

• Joel Jimenez, 412 E. Monroe St., told Goshen police Friday that someone stole his bicycle while it was at his home.

• Angela LaMarr told Goshen police Saturday that someone stole a car battery from her yard.

• A 17-year-old Goshen resident reported the theft of a cell phone to city police. The incident occurred Saturday along Silverwood Lane.

• Gumesindo Morales of Goshen told city police someone stole two debit cards around 1 p.m. Saturday at Ares Fitness Club, 201 Chicago Ave.

• Paula King of Goshen told city police someone stole her 16-year-old daughter’s cell phone Saturday at the Goshen Public Library, 601 S. Fifth St.

• Ralph Woods of Goshen told city police he found someone inside his pickup truck around 3:25 a.m. Sunday outside 711 S. 15th St. He also told police he saw two other people run from the area. Woods said his property had not been damaged and nothing was taken.

• Staff at Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road, told Goshen police a male left the store without paying for a bottle of an alcoholic beverage shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday.

Assault/battery reports

• Cortez Jones, 38, 2645 Alpine Fir Lane Apt. 18K, Goshen, was arrested by city police Friday on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor and strangulation. The incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. Jones was incarcerated.

• Clarence Anien, 31, 112 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen, was arrested by city police Friday on a charge of domestic battery. The battery reportedly took place at Anien’s home around 1 a.m.

Vandalism reports

• Brian Mast of Goshen told city police Friday that a chair from the Goshen College music center was vandalized.

Fraud reports

• Staff at Old Dog New Tricks, Goshen, reported a check fraud to city police Friday.

• Goshen police were called to Express Employment Professionals, 4568 Elkhart Road, regarding a man reportedly using false identification to gain employment. Cesar Ortega, 35, 115 Walnut St., Goshen, was arrested on charges of forgery, identity deception and possession of false government identification. He was incarcerated in the Elkhart County jail.

Traffic arrests

• Juan Ruiz-Gonzalez, 25, 738 Broadmore Estates, Goshen, was arrested by city police after a traffic stop in the area of Main and Madison streets shortly before midnight Saturday. He was arrested on a charge of being a habitual traffic violator and incarcerated in the Elkhart County jail.

Alcohol/drug arrests

• Timothy Dehoff, 20, 22490 C.R. 36, Goshen, was arrested by Goshen police around 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of North Eighth Street. He was arrested on charges resisting arrest and possession of paraphernalia and on a Goshen city warrant. He was incarcerated in the Elkhart County jail.

OWI arrests

• Corey J. Camacho, 27, 1200 N. Main St. No. 104, Nappanee, was arrested by Goshen police after a traffic stop in the 200 block of West Lincoln Avenue around 11:19 p.m. Saturday. He was arrested on charges of operating and motor vehicle while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. The OWI was a felony charge due to a prior conviction for the same offense, police reported.
