Police have released more details about a Washington Township burglary that occurred while the resident was home asleep.
Elkhart County police said the break-in occurred Wednesday at a residence in the Timberbrook Community along C.R. 19 in Bristol. The resident, a 26-year-old woman, was sleeping when an entry door was forced open around 5:45 a.m.
Police said the woman awoke and saw a light-skinned Hispanic male around 20 years old in the home. The intruder was clean-shaven and wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and black jeans. He was carrying a gym bag.
According to police, the intruder fled the residence after taking some items on his way out the door.

Man sentencedon drug charge
A Bristol man was sentenced to prison earlier this month on a drug-related charge.
Fidel Dijar-Araiza, 32, was sentenced in Elkhart Superior Court 3 to serve 30 years in the Indiana Department of Correction on a Class A felony charge of dealing cocaine. In exchange for Dijar-Araiza’s guilty plea, prosecutors had dropped two other Class A felony charges of cocaine dealing.
Dijar-Araiza was given credit for 332 days he’d already been incarcerated. He will be allowed to request a sentence modification in 2018.
• A fight between two students at Goshen High School, 401 Lincolnway East, took place around 3:10 p.m. Thursday, according to a Goshen police report. School officials told police one student used a power drill, causing a minor scrape to the other student. Neither student required professional medical attention. No arrests were made, police reported.
• Goshen police were called to a shoplifting in progress at Kohl’s, 3802 Midway Road, around 2:54 p.m. Thursday. The shoplifters had already left when police arrived.
