---- — Concord Township firefighters Don Mansell, Bill Creedon and Jon Simmons were accused by Concord Township Trustee Mark Grabill with the failure to follow the Concord Township Fire Department’s protocol regarding proper tag removal on narcotics boxes.

Staff at IU Health Goshen, 200 W. High Park Ave., told Elkhart County police that narcotic vials in the care of a fire department had been tampered with and possibly had the contents removed without authorization on Feb. 21 according to a police report.

Police confirmed the case involves Concord Township Fire Department. Elkhart County police spokesman Capt. Jim Bradberry said the incident remains under investigation.

According to Grabill, the Concord Township Fire Department takes very seriously the protection and accurate documentation of narcotics in its possession.

Mansell, Creedon and Simmons acknowledged their failure to follow the Township’s protocol, according to a statement from Grabill.

Grabill added that Mansell agreed to a minimum suspension of eight weeks without pay, as well as Creedon and Simmons agreed to a minimum suspension of four weeks without pay.
