A Goshen man pleaded guilty earlier this week in U.S. District Court in South Bend to a charge of conspiring to distribute cocaine.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Jose Mario Sanchez, 40, will be sentenced Sept. 11. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Agency.
• A Mishawaka man was injured in a vehicle crash at 3:40 p.m. Thursday near Elkhart. According to Elkhart County police, Jorge Enrrique Alvorado-Vierora, 31, Mishawaka, was driving his vehicle west on U.S. 20, just west of C.R. 17, when the driveshaft fell off of his vehicle causing the vehicle to swerve and collide with the cement barrier wall on the south side of the road before rolling over and landing on its roof. Alvorado-Vierora was cited at the scene for never having received a valid driver’s license and then transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of neck pain.
• An Elkhart woman was injured in a two-vehicle collision at 11:15 p.m. near Elkhart. According to Elkhart County police, Mandy Purvis, 27, Elkhart, was driving her vehicle southeast on C.R. 10, just northwest of Kehers St., when her vehicle went left of the roadway’s center line and struck the passenger side of a second vehicle heading northwest on C.R. 10. Purvis’ vehicle then exited the roadway and collided with a tree and road sign. Purvis was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of a head injury. The driver of the second vehicle, Derek Sims, 28, Elkhart, was uninjured. Purvis is being investigated for possible operating while intoxicated.
• Joetta Vanhook and Shawnna Smith, both of 319 S. Ninth St., Goshen, filed a report with Goshen police Thursday indicating someone stole items from their vehicles at approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday.
• Jason Ragsdale, Goshen, filed a report with Goshen police Thursday indicating his stereo was stolen while he was at 807 N. Main St., Goshen, on May 2.
