A Goshen woman and a South Bend man were injured in a three-vehicle collision at 6:37 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Ind. 19 and C.R. 38. According to Elkhart County police, Braxton M. Metcalf, 24, Elkhart, was driving his vehicle westbound on C.R. 38 approaching Ind. 19. A second vehicle, driven by Jefferson Miller, 44, New Paris, was pulling a trailer northbound on Ind. 19 approaching the four-way intersection at C.R. 38.
Metcalf allegedly drove through the intersection without stopping at the posted stop sign and collided with Miller’s trailer and a third vehicle, driven by Janet Stone, South Bend, which was southbound on Ind. 19.
A passenger in Metcalf’s vehicle, Megan Wesson, 23, Goshen, complained of facial pain from the air bag.
Stone suffered a fractured spine and shattered ankle. Both were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
Metcalf allegedly failed sobriety tests following the accident and was incarcerated that the Elkhart County Jail.
• Justin Lehman, 311 S. Fifth St., Goshen, filed a report with Goshen police at 4:30 p.m. Friday indicating someone stole an air compressor from his garage.
• Goshen police received a report at 1:53 a.m. Sunday indicating a 44-year-old female had been sexually battered and a 16-year-old female had been battered during an incident at 111 S. Cottage Ave, Goshen. The case remains under investigation.
Vandalism/criminal mischief reports
• Doug Morgan, Goshen, filed a report with Goshen police at 1:50 p.m. Saturday indicating that the tires on his and his wife’s bicycles were punctured while they were shopping at Kroger, 209 Chicago Ave., Goshen.
• Goshen police were called to the area of Eagle Drive in Goshen at 11:37 p.m. Saturday after a report was made that gunshots had been heard in the area. Officers checked the area and surrounding areas and nothing was seen or heard to verify the report.
