Two people injured in separate crashes

Two people were injured in separate motor vehicle-related crashes responded to by Elkhart County police Wednesday and Thursday:

• A two-vehicle crash injured a driver a mile east of Goshen Wednesday.

The collision occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. at C.R.s 17 and 45. Police said a 1997 Chevrolet S10 driven by Vickie Collins, 49, Goshen, collided with the rear of a 1998 Mercury Sable driven by Amber Reardon, 41, Elkhart.

Collins suffered back pain as a result of the crash and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital. Police said Reardon was issued a citation for not having insurance.

• A bicyclist was hurt in a collision four miles west of Bristol Thursday.

The collision occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on Ind. 120 east of C.R. 19. Police said an eastbound 2004 International 4300 SBA 4X2 driven by Bradley J. Watson, 25, Bristol, collided with bicyclist Randal A. Mishler, 22, Elkhart, who was also headed east.

Mishler suffered a head laceration and road rash on his arms and legs as a result of the collision.

Theft/burglary reports

• Scott Devoe of Goshen told Goshen police Thursday someone took items from his vehicle while it was parked at his place of work at 414 N. Main St.

• Jodi L. Groves told Goshen police Wednesday that someone took a bicycle from the lawn at her 1508 Hickory Place residence. She also said someone threw a beer bottle at her home, shattering the outer pane of a double-pane window.

• Goshen police were called to Walmart, 2304 Lincolnway East, around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday regarding people stealing items, resisting store loss-prevention staff and fleeing. During the investigation, one of the people was identified as a 16-year-old male.

• Michaela Johnson told Goshen police someone took her bike from her yard at 307 S. Seventh St. Wednesday.

• Gwen Gustafson-Zook told Goshen police someone stole her husband’s bicycle from their garage at 1608 S. Eighth St. Thursday.

• Aisha Omar-Baker of Goshen told Goshen police Wednesday that her identity had been stolen.

• Daniel Vega of Laredo, Texas, reported identity theft to Goshen police Wednesday. Vega said someone is working in Goshen using his information.

Assault/battery reports

• A 33-year-old employee at Bashor Children’s Home, 62226 C.R. 15, Goshen, told Elkhart County police she was bitten and strangled by a 15-year-old male student at the facility Tuesday.

Traffic arrests

• Robert H. Hyndman, 22, 17700 Plainfield Drive, Goshen, was arrested on a charge of resisting law enforcement Wednesday. Shortly after 2 a.m., Hyndman allegedly fled from Goshen police on a motorcycle after officers attempted to stop him for speeding in the 2400 block of East Kercher Road. Hyndman was incarcerated in the Elkhart County jail.

• Cruz O. Renteria, 39, 1716 Roc Lane, Goshen, was arrested by Elkhart County police after a traffic stop around 1 a.m. Thursday on C.R. 20 east of C.R. 111. She was incarcerated on a charge of driving while never receiving a license.

OWI arrests

• Edgar Carrillo, 39, 65659 Barrens Drive, Goshen, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated Wednesday. He was incarcerated after a traffic stop by Elkhart County police around 11 p.m. on C.R. 38 west of C.R. 17.
