UPDATE: Police release the names of Sunday night's shooting victims

GOSHEN — Goshen police have released the names of three people who were injured during a shooting on the city’s north side Sunday night.

The shooting occurred in the 300 block of Middlebury Street, across from Chamberlain Elementary School, at about 9:30 p.m.

Three people were treated and released from IU Health Goshen Hospital. They are: Angel Marquez, 18, 405 N. Second St., Goshen, treated for a gunshot wound to his upper left arm; Jose Gonzalez, 19, 2112 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen, treated for bullet fragment injuries to his right thigh and back; and Juan Diego Rodriguez, 18, 302 Middlebury St., Goshen, treated for a gunshot wound to his abdomen. A 17-year-old male refused treatment for a minor abrasion.

According to Goshen police, a group of people including the four victims were outside the home of Rodriguez. While the group was at the residence, two vehicles approached the area and person(s) from within one of the vehicles opened fire upon the group. The four listed were the only reported injuries.

According to police, it is believed this incident is not a random act of violence. The identities of the suspects are currently unknown. They were described only as multiple, young, Hispanic males. This incident investigation continues and there is no further information available at this time, police said.

In a press release, officers were notified Sunday night of reports of a shooting and victims were en route to or already located at the IU Health Goshen Health emergency room. While police responded to the hospital, additional officers responded to the area where the shooting had reportedly occurred.
