POLICE NEWS: Head-on collision injures three


— A head-on collision caused injuries to three people Wednesday at 6:01 p.m. at C.R. 17 and C.R. 18, two miles southeast of the Elkhart city limits.

According to Elkhart County police, Kathleen Bauer, 82, of Bristol, was driving north on C.R. 17 in her 2002 Grand Cherokee Jeep. She was in the left turn lane attempting to turn west onto C.R. 18. Maria Diaz, 42, Goshen, was driving her 1999 Pontiac Grand Am south on C.R. 17 and approaching C.R. 18. Bauer turned west onto C.R. 18 and struck Diaz’s vehicle head-on, police reported.

Diaz was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for right leg and hip pain. Bauer was transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital and treated for a fractured left ankle and pain. Her passenger, Diane Jones, 60, Elkhart, was transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital for neck pain. Bauer was cited for failure to yield right of way.

Bristol firefighters respond to two fires at same location

A house fire was reported at the Bristol Mobile Village, 53586 C.R. 27 Lot 111, Bristol, at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday. The Bristol Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

On Wednesday at 2:44 a.m., the same residence again was reported to be on fire. The incidents are under investigation according to Elkhart County police.

Goshen dog owner cited for loose animal

Randy Richard, 610 N. Fifth St., Goshen, was cited by Goshen police for having a loose dog in the city limits after a complaint that his dog bit a child in the 600 block of North Main St. at approximately 7:25 p.m. Wednesday. An animal bite report was completed.

Domestic battery arrest

• Jonathan Tailey, 1813 Howard Court Apt. A, Goshen, was arrested by Goshen police at his residence for domestic battery at approximately 3:39 p.m. Wednesday. He was reportedly in the presence of a minor and had an outstanding warrant through the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. Tailey was transported to the Elkhart County Jail.

Theft/burglary reports

•  Myron Yoder, Middlebury, told Goshen police someone stole his wife’s Ford Windstar van at approximately 3 a.m. Nov. 3 while it was parked at 3314 Eklhart Road, Goshen.

•  Aisha Kamilah Omar-Baker, 331 Arbor Court, Goshen, reported to Goshen police someone burglarized her residence Wednesday.

OWI arrests

•  Courtney Striker, Goshen, was stopped for a traffic violation at C. R. 17/C.R. 28 in Goshen at approximately 6:59 p.m. Wednesday, according to Elkhart County police. She was incarcerated at the Elkhart County Jail for operating while intoxicated.
