Goshen resident reports sound of gunshots near park


— Goshen police were dispatched in response to possible gunshots to the area near Abshire Park, in the 1300 block of East Lincoln Ave., around 3:26 a.m. Sunday, according to Goshen police.

Someone called and reported possible gunfire in the area, though officers found no evidence of gunfire, according to police. No other callers called in reference to the sound.

Crash reports

• A 1997 Dodge Ram rolled over and injured two people around 10 p.m. Saturday, according to Elkhart County police.

The truck was traveling northbound on C.R. 21 when it veered off the roadway because of ice on the road, according to a crash report. The Dodge went into a ditch and then rolled over, landing on its top.

The driver, Hattie Lemert, 19, Goshen, and a passenger, Brett Ralston, 19, Goshen, were transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital for neck and back pain. They were cited for not wearing their seat belts.

Theft/burglary reports

• Ernesto Rodriguez, Elkhart, reported Saturday that his cousin’s house, located in the 200 block of Riverside Boulevard, was burglarized and a window on his vehicle broken sometime in the last week while his cousin was away, according to Goshen police.

• Julian Hogendobler, Elkhart, reported the theft of a license plate from his vehicle while it was in the 200 block of Chicago Avenue around 3 p.m. Saturday, according to Goshen police.

Assault/battery reports

• Nathan Wedge, Elkhart, reported being battered by two men while he was shopping at Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road, around 1:51 a.m. Sunday, according to Goshen police. He was transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
