A Goshen teen was injured in a two-vehicle crash a half-mile west of Middlebury Friday night.
The mishap occurred at 8:15 p.m. on C.R. 14 west of Krider Drive. Elkhart County police said Nichole Howard, 18, Goshen, was driving west in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Howard was driving too fast on the wet and icy road, police reported, and lost control of the vehicle.
The Jeep went sideways in the road, left of center, going up an incline. An eastbound 2007 Dodge Ram driven by Wayne Lengyel, 39, Middlebury, then collided with Howard’s vehicle.
Police said Howard suffered a head injury and was transported to IU Health Goshen Hospital. She was also issued a traffic citation.
• Katherine Saunders, 21, 17611 Fawn River Road, White Pigeon, Mich., was arrested by Goshen police after allegedly trying to shoplift at Walmart, 4024 Elkhart Road, around 5 p.m. Friday. She was released on a memorandum to appear in court.
• An employee at 7-Eleven, 1000 S. Main St., Goshen, reported the theft of items from the store to Goshen police Friday. One theft occurred around 2:19 Tuesday when someone took a donation box from the counter inside the store, according to the police report.
• Lisa M. Williams, 46, 408 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen, was arrested by Goshen police after a traffic stop around 11:24 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of West Pike Street. She was taken into custody on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and incarcerated in the Elkhart County jail.
• Larissa Werner, 20, 2982 Plymouth LaPorte Trail, Walkerton, was arrested by Goshen police after a traffic stop around 2:35 a.m. Saturday at Chicago and Lincoln avenues. She was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana and released with a court date to appear in Goshen City Court.
